Altimit OS Reborn |
|
Well, i decided that i wanted to change up my computer's appearance, so...i chose the clean cut Altimit OS from .hack// fame as my inspiration. I used Astonshell to make my Altimit OS interface and now i'm about 90% done, just gotta do the start button (using a borrowed skin for now) and the custom icons with the text underneath (aston doesn't allow for that directly for type of menubar i used).
My laptop is Altimit loaded:
- Original Altimit Bootscreen
- Altimit Homescreen as my Login screen
- Altimit Homescreen for wallpaper (minus the animated portal, couldn't integrate that, just has a stationary portal)
- Left side toolbar
- Right side hidden toolbar for other stuff
- Taskbar on Top
- Defined Borders for the left side toolbar just like in the real Altimit OS
i'll post pics after i get back from dinner - Its so neat and clean

well, day two of using the new setup...and apparently the plugin/scripts that i got for aston are a bit temperamental and wasn't worth my time to look through the code. So i decided to brainstorm a new way to divide up the desktop. So i threw the taskbar to the left side next to the altimit style toolbar. since the taskbar doens't allow maximized windows to go past the taskbar space, it makes the altimit toolbar permapresent. I also replaced the clock with a digital clock. and changed some other things to make the computer run faster.
turns out that this new setup runs faster than regular aston, probably due to the extreme simplicity of the setup, not many images or icons used and no after-effects which is typical of an aston skin.
here are some images of the new setup (taken from my digital camera). i'm quite happy with what i've been able to do in about 2 hours worth of brainstorming and work. still gotta do the sounds and start button so i'm offiically about 95% done with the new Altimit setup. I expect to keep this setup for quite some time
